Data: The Random Test Pattern is a reflective target, which is then imaged onto a detector array. This pattern is available as a 15.2 cm square image on semi-matte photographic paper (as shown). Its power spectral density (PSD) is white and has equal power at all spatial frequencies. The MTF of the detector array is measured by imaging the Random Test Pattern and transforming the captured image into the frequency domain. Since the input PSD is uniform, the square root of the output PSD is equivalent to the MTF of the optical system. |
