Nominations for EE Times-China ACE Awards 2007 now open

Recognizing the industry contribution of progressive semiconductor companies whose leading-edge technologies have spurred innovation among China’s electronics engineers, EE Times-China, a publication of Global Sources, has opened the nominations for the second Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards in mainland China.

"Mainland China is rapidly shedding its image as the world’s electronics production line, and is transforming itself into a center of innovation," said Mark Saunderson, EE Times-China publisher. "Every day, engineers develop new products and systems that improve the way we work, play and live our lives."

"While mainland China’s electronics market is still largely dependant on imported semiconductor technologies," Saunderson added, "local design houses have set their eye on developing IC products that can compete in the global market."

This year’s ACE Awards has been expanded to include local design houses and individuals who have made a significant contribution to mainland China’s semiconductor sector.

"In addition to providing industry recognition, the awards also enable winners to promote their products to engineers in mainland China who are developing products in the world’s largest electronics manufacturing market," Saunderson noted. "The addition of the China Original Design and Industry Achievement awards will honor the individuals and companies who are making great strides towards turning this goal into a reality."

Awards categories
The categories in this year’s ACE Awards are:

Company of the Year Award - Winners will be selected for Brand of the Year, Outstanding Services of the Year and Innovator of the Year.

Product of the Year Award - Winners will be selected for AD/DA converter ICs, amplifier ICs, interface ICs, programmable logic, MCUs, linear power ICs, switching/digital power ICs, processors and DSPs, RF and microwave, test and measurement equipment, design tools and discrete semiconductor/sensors.

China Original Design Award - Winners will be selected for the analog/mixed-signal and digital categories.

Industry Achievement Award - Presented to the individual who has made the most significant contribution to China’s semiconductor market.

A panel of industry experts will choose winners for the Company of the Year Award, while public voting will determine winners for Product of the Year and China Original Design Awards. The editorial team of EE Times-China will select the recipient of the Industry Achievement Award.

Nominations are free. Submission deadline is Nov. 16, 2007.

ACE Awards winners will be announced during the 13th International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China) in Shenzhen, which will run March 3-4, 2008.
