’According to a survey undertaken by Frost & Sullivan, Huawei bagged the second spot in terms of number of UMTS contracts won in 2005, and indicates we are a major 3G supplier,’ said Tian Feng, President of Huawei Technologies Middle East and North Africa Regional Office.
’We have won 22 commercial UMTS contracts and constructed networks in several countries and regions including UAE, Malaysia, Indonesia, Portugal and Bulgaria. Huawei GSM has been deployed in over 60 countries and serves more than 100 million subscribers.’
Based on the 3G technology, Huawei launched its new GSM solution, the EnerG GSM Solution that reduces network instructure and maintenance costs for customers. It is 3G-oriented, enabling operators to upgrade their networks and make profits, even with low average revenue per user (ARPU).
Huawei’s GSM Mobile Softswitch system deployed for Saudi Telecom Company (STC) maintained stable operations during peak traffic, equivalent to16 time’s normal traffic, during the Hajj season this year. This excellent performance earned laurels for the company in the region and demonstrated its capability in providing customised solutions.
’Focusing on customers’ requirements is crucial for Huawei to be recognised and accepted by global operators. Customer needs drive our R & D processes and we aim to create maximum value for our customers with our innovative solutions,’ Feng added.
